[ARCHIVED] Warming Centers Open

Several day warming centers are open to anyone needing a warm, dry space to go.

First Christian Church (1166 Oak St.), Ebbert Memorial in Springfield (532 C St.), and St. Vincent DePaul’s Lindholm Center (456 Highway 99) are all open today. Additionally, First United Methodist Church (1376 Olive St.) is open to youth age 18 and younger. The Eugene Mission is staying open throughout the day and are taking as many individuals as they can safely accommodate. Egan Warming Centers are scheduled to open tonight and tomorrow night.

Volunteers currently associated with the open warming center locations are encouraged to contact their volunteer coordinators as additional help is needed.

The City’s community centers and libraries are closed today due to the weather. See an up-to-date list of closed City offices and canceled events.

The Eugene Police Department is asking everyone who can to stay home due to extremely dangerous travel conditions. There are several areas throughout the city with downed trees and power lines, and it is not safe at this time to be on the road.

911 has received a profusion of calls due to the weather and is requesting that the public only call 911 for immediate life, health and safety emergencies. And, for calls regarding utilities, please call your utility provider unless it is an immediate life or safety emergency. If you must leave your home, see safe winter driving tips.
