People driving should expect to slow down on East and West Amazon drives. This week Public Works will reduce the speed limit on both roads to 30 miles per hour. The current speed limit is 35 miles per hour.
“Reducing the speed limit is all about safety,” said Reed Dunbar, Associate Planner. “These are both active streets, with bike lanes, running trails, schools and parks nearby. Reducing speeds on our streets helps make everyone safer.”
People can also expect more change over the coming weeks as well. A diagonal crossing will be installed across Hilyard Street to enable people bicycling on the Amazon Path to access the protected bike lane on East Amazon. Installation of flexible tubular markers on the concrete barriers and additional reflective elements will also be added to East Amazon Drive.
