[ARCHIVED] Bomb Threats Received Locally Appear Similar to Bitcoin Email Scams Occurring Nationwide Today

Today Central Lane 911 and Eugene Police have received and responded to several reports of emailed bomb threats that contained demands for Bitcoin. These are similar to those occurring in other cities within the U.S. Although the reports CLCC and EPD have received and investigated so far appear to be scams, it is important to note EPD is taking them seriously and has been sending officers to take reports and notifying Eugene Springfield Fire Department.

While those received so far are scams and appear to be coming from an outside source, it is important to not be complacent and to report any threats to police.
