Due to the high volume of traffic in the Valley River/Delta Highway area this holiday season, the traffic enforcement unit will be in the area focusing on unsafe road behavior. In addition to the standard traffic violations, TEU officers will be watching for excessive speed, traffic signal violations, aggressive driving, distracted driving and other traffic violations. These violations contribute to a high frequency and severity of crashes.
We would like to remind the public that winter weather elements have been present on the roadways, which include wet pavement, gravel and leaves. These conditions can contribute to limited traction and braking ability for vehicles. During this time of year, the evening commute is now after sunset for most drivers, and further reduces the ability to see other vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians.
The operation will take place at various times on Tuesday, December 4.
