At 2:10 p.m., Eugene Police received a call from the U.S. Post Office, Eugene Downtown at 520 Willamette Street, after a call came in to the Gateway U.S. Post Office in Springfield about a bomb threat.
The Eugene downtown Post Office staff had evacuated the building. Due to initial information about a potential threat, the Metro Explosives Disposal Unit responded. As employees had been evacuated, MEDU was facilitated in taking precautions and will check the building to ensure it is safe. Nothing credible has been found yet and the search is being done out of an abundance of caution as a best practice.
