[ARCHIVED] Suspect arrested following robbery at Buy 2 convenience store

On May 30, 2018 at 8:38 p.m., Eugene Police Department responded to a robbery that occurred at the Buy2 convenience store located on the corner of Olive Street and Broadway. A man entered the store and stole some items from the store. The female clerk confronted the suspect who shoved her and fled. Area bystanders who observed the robbery attempted to intervene as the suspect exited the store, following him and attempting to get the suspect to give back the property that was taken. The suspect pulled a knife on the two bystanders and threaten to stab them. The bystanders backed off, and reported they last observed the suspect fleeing northwest from the location. Multiple EPD officers, including K9 Cjuk, responded to the area and began to search for the described suspect and located him in the area of Lawrence and W 8th Alley. The suspect, who was armed, was not compliant with commands from officers, and was subsequently taken into custody with the use of a taser. Following contact with the suspect, Marquel Djuan Cary, age 20, he was arrested and lodged at the Lane County Jail for Robbery, Menacing and Interfering with a Police Officer.
