On April 26, 2018, Christopher Lee Nelson was indicted by a Lane County Grand Jury for the Murder of Christopher Stanghellini on October 18. Nelson was later lodged on the Grand Jury Indictment and has since been arraigned. Prior to the arrest for murder, police contacted Nelson on October 20 and charged him with an assault that happened at the Eugene Mission (Case 17-17720).
During the investigation, police received information of an additional assault involving Nelson as the suspect, which happened on October 16 that occurred at the 7-Eleven, 951 West 6th Avenue, however, investigators have not been able to identify the victim and have attained images of him that were taken inside the 7-Eleven prior to the assault.
