[ARCHIVED] Suspect arrested for Criminal Mischief at Hertz Car Rental

On April 5 around 12:45 a.m., police contacted Bernard Shifman, age 41, of Eugene, after he was observed throwing a solid object through the windows of multiple vehicles parked on the lot of Hertz Car Rental, 655 West 7th Avenue.

Since March 13, police have received information of six previous incidents, where a suspect, matching the description of Shifman was observed on multiple occasions, entering the lot and breaking the windows of the vehicles, causing thousands of dollars in damage.

Shifman, who has an extensive history of arrests for criminal mischief and criminal trespass, was contacted by police as he was observed leaving the lot on April 5 and arrested for Criminal Mischief in the First Degree. He was transported to the Lane County Jail on the charges.
