On February 15 at approximately 4:14 p.m., police responded to a robbery at Radar Toys on West 11th Avenue and received information that the suspect displayed a knife and demanded money from the employee. The employee ran toward the back of the store and the suspect subsequently left the location and was observed traveling north on Tyinn Street in a dark colored Mercury Mountaineer with Utah plates.
At approximately 7:24 p.m., police responded to a robbery at the Subway Restaurant, 2848 Willamette Street, and received information that the suspect displayed a knife and demanded cash, before leaving the location in a Mercury Mountaineer with cash.
Police located the involved vehicle at the Sequential gas station at 1695 West 18th Avenue, and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle as it exited the location. Police contacted the driver, John Edward Flynn, age 28, and discovered that the vehicle was stolen out of Utah, and observed multiple knives in his possession, one which matched the description of the knife used in the robberies. After further investigation, he was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail on two counts of Robbery in the First Degree.
Police are continuing to investigate this incident.
