[ARCHIVED] Suspect in Two Attempted Street Robberies Captured by Officers

Officers responded to Willamette High School at 4:52 a.m. today, February 2, after a 17-year-old male, who was heading to work, reported a man had tried to rob him at knife point near the Echo Hollow Pool, 1655 Echo Hollow Road. A Springfield K9 unit was called out and conducted an area check, but the suspect was not located.

At 6:06 this morning, an officer was driving on Hwy. 99N near Sponsors and spotted a man in the road who was following another man. The officer stopped the man in the road and the other man took off running. The officer quickly learned the man he stopped had also been the victim of an attempted robbery. This information was aired to all EPD units on shift and a second officer quickly located the suspect, Benjamin William Ehmer, age 21, on Elmira and Figueroa.

Once the dust settled, officers determined Ehmer was the same suspect from the Echo Hollow incident. Ehmer was also found to have an outstanding warrant. Ehmer was lodged for two counts of Attempted Robbery in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and the warrant.
