Eugene Airport to celebrate 1 million passenger milestone

Eugene — December 11, 2017 — Eugene Airport (EUG) officials announced today that the airport has surpassed the one million annual passengers mark for the first time in its history. Airport personnel will be hosting a pop-in celebration inside the main lobby of the airport today from 10:30am to 4:30pm, and the public is invited.

“We are delighted to celebrate this huge milestone,” said Airport Director, Tim Doll, A.A.E. “Our record-breaking passenger growth, year after year, and to reach one million passengers this year for the first time in our history, shows that people from all over our region trust us to provide safe, convenient and affordable air travel.”

Eugene Airport has experienced record passenger growth for seven consecutive years. In 2010, the airport recorded 797,177 arriving and departing passengers. In 2016, the airport reported 984,175 passengers, an increase of 23.5 percent.

Airport Advisory Committee Chair, Linda Ackerman attributes the growth and one million passenger milestone to the support for the airport from the communities in which it serves. “This accomplishment speaks volumes to the airport’s leadership and its commitment to meeting the needs of passengers in our area,” Ackerman said.

Final passenger numbers for 2017 will not be reported officially until January, 2018, however airport officials have estimated that they reached the one million mark during the second week of December, based on averages reported over the last several years.
