At 10:53 p.m. on December 2, Central Lane 911 received more than one call regarding shots fired in the 1400 block of Ferry Street. Multiple EPD patrol units responded to an apartment complex where the shots were determined to have originated.
Officers contained the area around the residence and when they began to check the involved apartment, Reed Joseph Mederos, age 19, of Eugene, opened the door. He was compliant with officers and was taken into custody without incident. After an investigation, they found that Mederos had fired rounds inside, including from a shotgun and a rifle. At the scene, they seized three firearms including a shotgun, rifle and handgun.
The apartment building has four additional tenants and officers conducted a welfare check and none were injured. Mederos was charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon and four counts of Reckless Endangering. Case 17-20306
