PREVIOUS INFORMATION - October 30, 2017

At 7:32 a.m. on October 29, a Eugene Police officer responded to reports of a man and woman overdosing on heroin at 13th and Polk yesterday. When Officer Jannalyn Farley got there, it became clear both needed CPR. She began CPR on the female, but there was no one else there to help the man and time was of the essence.

An unidentified man came running from across the street, asked what he could do to help Officer Farley, and was directed to perform CPR on the man. Without question, this hero raced over to the overdosing man and began CPR. He continued his efforts while awaiting medics. Another officer arrived and took over just as medics got there.

According to Officer Farley, during the hubbub of the incident she lost track of the man who had been doing CPR, and he left without her knowing his name. He left before the two involved patients were conscious. Later the medic team told Officer Farley that whoever had done the CPR on the male, saved his life.

Officer Farley is hoping that the man will come forward so she can recognize and thank him for his lifesaving efforts. The phone number to call is 541-556-6863 (Officer Jannalyn Farley).

The man was wearing a black zip-collar sweater, blue jeans, brown work boots, and a dark ball cap.

(Incident 17266030) - Both the patients were taken to a local hospital.
