[ARCHIVED] Arrested: Man Who Threatened People at Islamic Center

Suspect Arrested in Islamic Center Bias Crime Incident and Monroe Park Bias Crime
Case No. 17-7301, 17-7358
 
At approximately 5:00 p.m. today, Eugene Police officers responded to a dispute at Monroe Park, 845 W. 10th. The investigation revealed that Chad Everett Russell had engaged in disorderly and bias related crimes against two separate victims. He was arrested for those crimes.
 
Russell was subsequently identified as the suspect in the bias crime at the Eugene Islamic Center. Those charges were added and he was lodged at Lane County Adult Corrections.

Russell, Chad Everett. DOB 8/14/1972, WM, resides in Eugene, OR

PREVIOUSLY RELEASED:

Eugene Police Department is seeking the public’s help to identify a man who threatened attendees at the Islamic Center, 1856 W. Broadway, on May 8 at 6:10 p.m. The man appeared just after prayers and while there made threats to kill attendees. Police responded to look for the suspect, who is described as a white male, clean shaven, about 5’9” to 5’10” tall, weighing 190 pounds and last seen wearing a black bike helmet, black sunglasses, blue tank top, grey cargo shorts, and carrying a green military-style backpack. He was riding a white mountain bike.


Two officers conducted an area check last night during the prayers and met with worshippers. Following the incident, EPD has directed officers to patrol the area around the center.
