In honor of National Historic Preservation Month in May, the City of Eugene Planning Division will be supporting several events throughout the City.
May 5th, 5:30–8 PM:First Friday ArtWalk – George Warner Exhibit
The Eugene Historic Preservation Program will showcase beautiful watercolors featuring historical Eugene streetscapes and architecture by local artist George Warner (1926-2009). May 6th @ 1 PM (1 hour): East Skinner Butte Historic Neighborhood Walk
As part of the national “Jane’s Walk” celebration, a tour of the historic East Skinner Butte Historic Neighborhood will be led by community member Tyler Burgess. May 20th and May 27th: Saturday Market
The Eugene Historic Preservation Program will be hosting a booth at The Saturday Market on May 20th and 27th (weather permitting). City Staff, members of Eugene’s Historic Review Board, and University of Oregon graduate students will be available to answer questions and provide additional information about historic preservation in Eugene.
Eugene’s Historic Property Restoration Grant program provides grants of $1,000 or more of matching funds to owners of properties that are listed as a historic City Landmark. The funds can be used to enhance, preserve or repair the structure. For an application and more information on the types of properties and projects that are eligible,visit the City’s website
