A joint investigation by Oregon Liquor Control Commission and Eugene Police has led to the arrest of a man for impersonating an OLCC inspector at two local bars.
OLCC contacted Eugene Police on April 5 after Marshall Nicholas Hladun, age 27, of Eugene, had entered a bar establishment, identified himself as working for “OLCC,” gained access to areas not open to customers, and demanded employees’ OLCC and other identification. OLCC was contacted by bar management, began an investigation.
A Eugene Police officer joined the investigation and noted that Hladun had been armed at the time he entered the establishments and impersonated an OLCC inspector. After an investigation, the officer charged Hladun with Coercion, Attempted Coercion, and Unlawful Possess Firearm
To avoid being taken in by someone impersonating an OLCC officer, inspectors can be identified by their badge denoting they are a liquor control commission officer, a business card from the agency, and photo identification. They are usually in plainclothes, but must carry these items. If you believe that someone is impersonating an OLCC officer, please call the local OLCC officer.
