[ARCHIVED] Pharmacist Arrested for Tampering with Drug records Case No. 17-2797

On February 20, 2017, Eugene Police responded to Bi-Mart headquarters regarding a significant theft of Class II Narcotics from the River Road Bi-Mart. Bi-Mart had already conducted a thorough internal investigation which resulted in the questioning and subsequent termination of one of their pharmacists, Benjamin O'Rourke, age 33, of Eugene.

During the course of the investigation, police developed probable cause for the arrest O'Rourke on the following charges:


42 counts of Tampering w/Drug Records 

42 counts of Computer Crime 

42 counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Schedule-2) 

42 Counts of Controlled Substance Fraud 

Theft in the First Degree


Computer records showed that O'Rourke electronically altered drug records during the receiving process accounting for an aggregate loss of nearly 5400 Class II narcotics from April 2016 to January 2017. The loss to the company at cost was over $4600.00. The street value is in excess of $100,000. 

O'Rourke was arrested and lodged on April 4, 2017 at the Lane County Adult Corrections for the above mentioned charges.
