A passerby noticed a swastika painted onto glass in an elevator at the parking garage at 175 E 10th.

A man posted an Aryan brotherhood flyer on the Fairgrounds sign at the intersection nearby a home that had a Jewish symbol. The suspect is described as a white male, in his mid-20s, 5’9”, 200 pounds, with red/blonde straight collar-length hair, and no facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black coat and black pants, and riding a black mountain bike.

Police have received one more report of a swastika. This occurred at First United Methodist Church, 1376 Olive. The graffiti was applied sometime between the evening of Sunday, February 4, and the morning of February 7.
Investigators are following up on this case and are asking that any business or residence that has had similar incidents report these to police at 541.682.5111. Also, anyone who has suspect information in these cases are asked to contact 541.682.5111.
Eugene Police Department has noted a very recent increase in swastika graffiti spread around Eugene. So far, police have had two reports from local businesses regarding tagging of swastikas:
An officer took a report at Jerry and Walts Four Wheel Service on February 4 at 2:14 p.m. The business was closed at the time. Number 17-1851
Old Nick’s Pub at 211 Washington was reported on Saturday, February 4, at 10:57 a.m., and is estimated to have occurred on February 4 between 2:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. The graffiti was in an area that had signs that read “hate free zone.” Case Number 17-1848
Police have heard that other businesses may have also been targeted and are hoping that any business or residence that has had similar incidents will report these to police at 541.682.5111. Also, anyone who has suspect information in these cases are asked to contact 541.682.5111.
The material itself may fall under freedom of speech, but how it is being posted and where it is posted may cause it to be a crime.
