[ARCHIVED] (UPDATE) Police Seeking Tips to Help Locate Domestic Violence Suspect

Richard Herbert Thornton, Jr.

On December 20 around 7:15 p.m., Richard Herbert Thornton Jr., age 38, of Eugene, was contacted by police after he presented himself at the Lane County Jail, and was arrested on the following charges:

Sodomy 1

Rape 1

Assault 4

Strangulation

Coercion

Interfering With Making A Report

Eugene Violent Crimes Unit is seeking tips from the public to help locate a suspect in a domestic violence case. The suspect, Richard Herbert Thornton, Jr., age 38, is described as a white male, 5’11” tall, 180 pounds, with very close-shaven brown hair, brown eyes. He has a tattoo on his left arm.


Thornton is believed to be driving a white Pontiac Bonneville, with paint peeling from the spoiler. The license plate is UKJ121.


Thornton has access to multiple firearms and should be considered armed and dangerous. Please don’t contact him, but if he is spotted or if you have information on his whereabouts, please contact Eugene Police at 541.682.5111.
