[ARCHIVED] Public Works Responds to Winter Storm, Slick Conditions

Eugene Public Works crews are out today, closely watching the roads and treating any slick spots. A winter weather system moved through ahead of the Wednesday morning commute, bringing a mix of freezing rain, snow, and sleet to the valley floor and south hills. With the slick roads, residents are advised to check the conditions and roads before making a decision to head out.

The storm is forecasted to last through the day, with temperatures hovering around freezing. Public works crews will continue to monitor the roads throughout the duration of the event with a focus on high-priority commuter routes.

Because of the wintry mix, staff is clearing sidewalks and access ramps near public buildings and in the downtown area. Property owners are reminded that they’re responsible for keeping sidewalks passable next to their properties.
