[ARCHIVED] Police Make Arrest in Serious July Hit and Run Case

Eugene Police Major Collision Investigation Team has been actively working this case and through their investigation, identified a suspect, Curtis Franklin Spriggs, age 24, of Eugene. Springfield Police assisted in locating the involved vehicle in Springfield. Also assisting in this case was Eugene Police Forensic Evidence Unit.

Spriggs was charged on November 4 at 8:32 a.m. with Assault 2, Driving While Suspended and Hit and Run.

The victim was Maria Zacarias Hernandez, age 63, of Eugene.

Information Released on July 18, 2016:

At approximately 4:43 pm today, Eugene Police and Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a vehicle pedestrian crash near 2nd and Polk. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries. A dark colored SUV was observed fleeing the scene. Eugene Police are asking that witnesses or those with relevant tips regarding the crash contact Officer Annie McIntyre at 541-682-5576. The investigation is ongoing. 16-11874
