[ARCHIVED] Police Vehicle Rear-ended at Crash Scene

Today, September 23, at 9:11, a police vehicle parked on the shoulder, responding to a single-vehicle crash at eastbound I-105 and Delta, was hit from behind. The officer, and other involved individual were not seriously injured.

The first crash, was a single-vehicle crash in which a Jeep overturned at I-105 and Delta in the curve of the on-ramp. Two EPD units responded to that crash, a sergeant and an officer. They both parked in the shoulder of the highway. The sergeant got out of his vehicle and was speaking with the officer, who was sitting inside his parked vehicle. The sergeant saw a Honda Civic coming towards them, and was able to jump out of the way before the vehicle, driven by Greg Summers, age 19, of Eugene rear-ended the patrol vehicle with the officer in it. Neither the officer, nor the driver in the Honda Civic that rear-ended him were transported to the hospital.
