The 20x21 EUG Mural Project and Kesey Enterprises are proud to bring artist Beau Stanton to Eugene to paint a new mural on the McDonald Theater in Downtown Eugene. Stanton has just finished a month-long animated installation titled “Voyage” as part of Midnight Moment in Times Square, NY and is set to begin work in Eugene on August 11.
Stanton, a multi-disciplinary artist, is a perfect fit for the historic theater. Utilizing meticulous technique and craft, he draws inspiration from historic ornamentation, religious iconography and classical painting.
Initiated by the City of Eugene’s Public Art Program, the 20x21 EUG Mural Project seeks to build community and add vibrancy to the urban landscape by creating 20 exemplary outdoor murals between now and the 2021 IAAF World Championships. In the spirit of the World Track and Field Championships, the project aims to commission work from artists who are currently among the world’s best and showcase Eugene as a participant in the world stage.
In addition to work on the mural, Stanton will take part in other activities around the community. For more details visit the 20x21 EUG Mural Project Facebook page at www.facebook.com/20x21EUG.
