To address the issue of DUII driving and to ensure enough officers are available to identify, stop and process impaired drivers, DUII patrols were staffed above and beyond the normal strength throughout the first seven months of the year. These patrols were staffed primarily with the help of funding from state grants, which led to 8 DUII arrests alone from the dedicated patrols in July, and 77 arrests from the dedicated patrols from January through July. Overall, there were 52 DUII arrests in July, increasing the total to 436 DUII arrests between January 1 and July 31, 2016.
DUII Arrests from dedicated patrols:
July – 8 DUII arrests
June – 8 DUII arrests
May – 7 DUII arrests
April – 3 DUII arrests
March – 14 DUII arrests
February – 19 DUII arrests
January – 18 DUII arrests
Impaired driving continues to be a significant problem in our community and a danger on our roadways. The Oregon Liquor Control Commission has provided a list of items that you should take into consideration if you are hosting a party where alcohol is present:
