[ARCHIVED] July DUII Saturation Patrols

To address the issue of DUII driving and to ensure enough officers are available to identify, stop and process impaired drivers, DUII patrols will be staffed above and beyond the normal strength through the Fourth of July weekend and remainder of the month. These patrols are staffed primarily with the help of funding from state grants, which led to 8 DUII arrests alone from the dedicated patrols in June, and 69 arrests from the dedicated patrols through the first half of the year. Overall, there were 64 DUII arrests in June, increasing the total to 383 DUII arrests for the year.

This weekend, there will be large groups of people gathering to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday and other big area events, which include the 43nd annual Butte to Butte race and the 2016 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials. The trials are scheduled through July 10, and there will be far more people traveling to destinations throughout the area during this time. Please plan ahead, and be courteous of other drivers and pedestrians, and always arrange to have a way for you and your friends to get home safely if you anticipate celebrating in any of the festivities.

DUII Arrests from dedicated patrols:
June – 8 DUII arrests
May – 7 DUII arrests
April – 3 DUII arrests
March – 14 DUII arrests
February – 19 DUII arrests
January – 18 DUII arrests
