Join Southeast Neighbors this summer for a free, two hour “Block Captain” training and help build our network of disaster-trained citizens. Captains will learn how to organize and prepare their immediate neighborhood and receive training on FRS radio communications.
There are three opportunities to attend training this summer; the first is this weekend:
Sunday, June 26; Sunday, July 31; and Sunday, August 28
All three trainings will be from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Hilyard Community Center, 2580 Hilyard Street.
More than 10,000 people live in Southeast Eugene. After an earthquake or other major disaster, immediate support may not be available. Block Captain training is built on the concept of “neighbor helping neighbor” until outside help arrives.
Please join us in this neighborhood-led effort to build a community of support and resilience. This training is open to the public. Come learn more about disaster planning in our area and the advances being made to build a more disaster-resilient community.
