[ARCHIVED] Car Jacking Suspect Apprehended


April 7, at approximately 11:25 a.m., police received information of a suspect, who forced his way into a vehicle after pushing the passengers from the car, in the area of Lowes Home Improvement store on W. 11th. The suspect fled the area in the vehicle and was located by police. The vehicle continued at an erratic pace and avoided multiple attempts from police to contact driver. The vehicle was eventually forced to stop by police, after it rammed into multiple patrol vehicles in the area of Garfield and W. 11th Avenue. The suspect was non-compliant with direction from police and OSP assisted taking him into custody following the deployment of a taser.

Michael Joseph McLane, age 62, of Eugene, was arrested on the following charges:

Robbery in the Third Degree
Two counts of Felony Hit and Run
Two counts of Reckless Endangering
Two counts of Misdemeanor Hit and Run
Resisting Arrest
Reckless Driving

Police are continuing to investigate a Robbery in the Third Degree that happened around 6 a.m. this morning involving McLane, in the area of Broadway and Willamette.
