Update: the man has been identified as: John Anthony Caverly, age 46, of Idaho. The Medical Examiner has determined his cause of death to be drowning and the Medical Examiner is still pending results on manner of death, but it is likely accidental.

On Sunday, February 7, at 8:42 a.m., an unidentified man in his 40s was found by a passing cyclist in the Amazon Slough near W. 11th Avenue (behind a Union 76 gas station).
In addition to Eugene Springfield Fire EMS, Eugene Police Patrol, Violent Crimes Unit detectives and the Lane County Medical Examiner responded to the scene. The investigation has been ongoing by VCU and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
