[ARCHIVED] Man arrested after trying to sexually corrupt 15-year-old girl, who has developmental disabilities

James Warren Calvert

Eugene Police Violent Crimes detectives have arrested James Warren Calvert, age 57, of Eugene, on charges of Online Sexual Corruption of a Child in the First Degree and Online Sexual Corruption of a Child in the Second Degree. From June 27, 2015, through July 8, 2015, Calvert communicated with a 15-year-old female victim, who has developmental disabilities. During course of the communications, he solicited nude photos of the girl and on several occasions he attempted to meet with her for the purpose of having sexual contact with her.
The communications took place via text message and Facebook. Detectives say this is an important reminder to parents to be aware of their children’s online and mobile phone activities, and actively monitor them. The National Crime Prevention Council has a variety of tips, including some on Internet Safety
and Social Media/Networking safety:
If anyone has additional information that may be relevant to this case they are asked to call Detective Jeff Roth at 541.682.5569. ###
