[ARCHIVED] Police Arrest Man After Shots Fired Call

Police were called for shots fired at around 3:30 pm, they responded to the 4000 block of Bell Avenue. An area check was negative for a shooter. At 4:52 p.m. 9-1-1 received a call regarding a suicidal subject on Bell Avenue. Upon arrival, witnesses in the area reported that there were juveniles inside a residence where they heard shots fired. The information indicated that it was a man firing with a semi-automatic rifle in a backyard.

The juveniles fled the residence and are safe. After about three hours, the suspect, after repeated attempts by police to resolve the situation, came out and was safely taken into custody.

Arrested was Miles Joseph Hart, age 37, on charges Discharging Weapon within City Limits and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Travelers were advised to avoid the area of Bertelsen between Royal and Elmira, while police were in the area attempting to contact the suspect.
