[ARCHIVED] Robbery Suspect Apprehended

Officers were on the lookout for a wanted robbery suspect who was purported to be armed and dangerous. An officer located the vehicle associated with the wanted subject at the Nite Inn, 1522 W. 6th Ave, and noted two people inside. As the officer approached the subjects he noted the driver matched the wanted person’s description and called out to him by name. The suspect put his car in reverse and rammed the patrol car positioned behind him as he fled the hotel.

The officer initiated a pursuit of the vehicle which had slowed to let the female passenger out. The pursuit traveled a short distance into the Whitaker neighborhood where the driver crashed into a parked vehicle and fled on foot. Other officers coming to assist flooded the area and were able to apprehend the suspect after jumping several fences and entering a business.

No citizens or officers were injured; the suspect was evaluated by medics and released to be lodged.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
