[ARCHIVED] Man Charged in Wrong Way, High Speed DUII Single-Vehicle Crash

At 12:53 this morning, Eugene Police officers were called to Wal-Mart, 4550 W. 11th Avenue, regarding single car rollover crash. The driver, Sergio Mares-Velasco, age 24, of Eugene, was driving his vehicle westbound, at an estimated 60-70 m.p.h., down the wrong way of W.11th Avenue. He attempted to turn into the west entrance of the Wal-Mart parking lot from W. 11th Ave. at the high rates of speed. Mares-Velasco lost control of his vehicle and it rolled onto its top.

He was transported to a local hospital with what appear to be injuries that are not life threatening. He was charged with DUII, Reckless Driving, Driving While Suspended Misdemeanor, and Contempt of Court Linn County Warrant.
