[ARCHIVED] Police Respond to Call Regarding Disorderly Teens Under Influence of Drug

Officers were dispatched to disorderly juveniles in the 2900 block of Summit Terrace Drive around 5:08 a.m. today. While they were enroute, dispatch advised the officers that two teen males had taken an unknown drug at another location and when they arrived at the residence of the caller, they were acting strangely and violently. One had run outside the residence in his underwear. An arriving officer located the teen, who had run outside. This youth ran from the officer, going through back yards and side yards of residences in the area. The officer was able to catch him, but the teen started to fight. Due to the effects of the drug, he was erratic and had unusual strength. As the officer and teen were both down an embankment, lodged between two trees in the dirt at the corner of Warrant and Summit Sky and the officer struggled to control him, other officers were trying to quickly find the pair as well as respond to the location of the other youth. A sergeant and another officer found the teen and officer. It took numerous officers to hold him down, and restrain him, and he continued to fight. Officers called for medics, who arrived in emergency mode to take the teen to the hospital due to the obvious, dangerous effects of the drug. An officer followed the medic vehicle in case the medications applied on scene did not keep the teen under control. The other involved teen had been restrained by an adult at the home of the call. He also had violent and erratic behavior and was also transported by medics to the hospital for emergency treatment.

No criminal actions are being taken against either juvenile. However, this incident underscore the danger of taking drugs not only to those who take them, but to the police and medic units who respond to get those under the influence to emergency treatment, while safeguarding the public.
