[ARCHIVED] City Hall Deconstruction Update

With the public art collection now safely in storage, deconstruction and demolition on the City Hall site are well underway. The first phase of hazardous material abatement and interior demolition is nearly complete and structural demolition will be underway in February. Construction of the new building will begin in late 2015.

The project team is still on target to recycle or reuse 95% of the existing building's materials, and we are working to apply best practices in safe, green demolition. Learn more about green deconstruction and safe demolition procedures guiding this work.

We have visited nearby neighbors and businesses several times, and the team will provide timely updates as deconstruction and construction activities continue. We'll look forward to sharing more news as the schematic design work is completed in the next couple of months.
