Don't wait - Just a few spaces remain in Eugene Recreation's cross country skiing level I class, on and cross country skiing level II class, both held on 17.
In the level I class, participants will learn the skills needed for competent cross country skiing, on and off the trail: slide, glide, turn and stop. In a required pre-trip meeting, presenters will explain what to wear, how to wax skis, and make emergency repairs. Students call the level II class “the confidence builder” because it’s designed to help the student skier develop control on hills and efficiency on the flats.
Students rent or bring their own equipment for these classes. Both classes require attendance at a pre-trip meeting from 7-9 p.m. Jan. 13, the Wednesday before the outing, held at the River House Community Center, 301 N. Adams St. The cost of either class is $49 and includes transportation to the mountain and trail passes. For information, call the River House at 541-682-5329. To register online, go to www.eugene-or.gov/recenroll. both of these outings are also held on Feb. 7 and the pre-trip meeting on Feb.3.
