At 5:58 p.m. today, police responded to a sexual assault near the parking lot at 463 Coburg Road.
A female in her 20s reported walking to her parked car when the attack occurred. The suspect, who was armed with a knife, took the victim to nearby bushes where she was sexually assaulted. The suspect fled when he was sprayed with pepper-spray. Police believe the suspect sustained redness to his face and/or body from the pepper-spray.
The suspect is described as a 40-year-old white male, approximately 6 feet tall, with “Australian Sheppard” blue eyes, short grey hair, and a grey scraggly beard. He was wearing a fur-rimmed hat, multiple layers of clothing under a dark over-coat, and dark corduroy pants.
Patrol officers and detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene to conduct the investigation and search for the suspect.
The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. Police are asking that anyone who has tips in the case to contact Detective Jeff Donaca at 541.682.5193 during business hours, or the Eugene Police non-emergency line at 541.682.5111 with information outside business hours.
