[ARCHIVED] Springfield Man Arrested for Drive-By Shooting Incident

Arrest in drive-by shooting
Case No. 14-17703

Eugene Police detectives and Springfield Police arrested a 19 year-old Springfield man in connection with a gang-related drive-by shooting targeting two pedestrians last week. Victor Hugo Martinez, age 19, was arrested without incident during a traffic stop near the intersection of Mohawk Road and Olympic Street shortly before 2:00 p.m. this afternoon.

Police say Martinez is a member of the Riverside Crips Criminal Street Gang in Eugene. The shooting occurred at 9:00 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2014, near the 4000 Block of Langton Street in Eugene. Police are still investigating the shooting in which a vehicle occupied by Martinez and two other men rolled up on two pedestrians walking in the area of the 4000 Block of Langton Street. Martinez is said to have pointed and fired a semi-automatic handgun at the two pedestrians out the window from the backseat of the car before it sped away.

Martinez is charged with Unlawful Use of a Firearm and Menacing. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are likely. ###
