[ARCHIVED] Suspect in 'Spencer's Butte Vehicle Break-ins' Arrested

Yesterday at approximately 1:34 p.m., an officer located James Edward Walters, who is a suspect in a series of Identity Theft and Unlawful Entry of Motor Vehicle cases where stolen credit cards were used at local stores. Walters was located with his vehicle near the 3600 block of Glenwood Drive. He was taken into custody and arrested on multiple counts of Identity Theft and Unlawful Entry of a Motor Vehicle.

The thefts in this case are related to a previous news release that was sent out August 28, in regard to vehicle break-ins at Spencer's Butte. The following information was released at that time:

Spencer’s Butte Vehicle Break-ins

We have been getting at least three calls every day from owners of vehicles who have had their cars broken into and items stolen. This trend started about 2-3 weeks ago in the Spencer’s Butte parking lot and most of the thefts have happened in the hours near dusk until 10 p.m.
