The City of Eugene Emergency Management Program is co-sponsoring the 2nd Annual Cargo Bike Disaster Relief Trials, which will be held on Saturday, October 11 in Alton Baker Park. This event, designed to help demonstrate the capabilities of bikes in disaster situations, will feature a cargo bike race and various preparedness-related activities. In the event of a major earthquake, cargo bikes could provide a crucial method of transport.

The Disaster Relief Trials will prominently feature a Cargo Bike and Safety Fair. The fair is a fun and interactive way to educate community members about disaster preparedness and recovery. Activities will include first aid demonstrations, hands-only CPR instruction, quiz games, raffle prizes, face painting, activities just for kids, and disaster kit giveaways.
