[ARCHIVED] Beware Ecstasy "Candy"

In recent weeks, the Downtown Team has focused enforcement on the Park Blocks due to public complaints and criminal activity. Last Thursday, at approximately 7:14 a.m., officers observed two suspects in that area in violation of park rules, Bradley Lyndon Cosby, age 35, and James Richard Cossairt, age 35. When the officers contacted Cosby and Cossairt, they found them in possession of more than three pounds of ecstasy “candy.”

EPD officers come in contact with several different types of drugs while on patrol, including ecstasy (MDMA). However, due to the rarity of ecstasy found in this form, officers want the public to be aware of its existence and others that may appear like it. Ecstasy “candy” not only poses a threat to people with a general understanding of drugs, such as children, but it can also have severe and fatal results for recreational users due to the unknown concentration of the drug within the “candy.”
