[ARCHIVED] Truck Inspections Today near Coburg Road and Fox Meadow

As part of a state grant, the Eugene Police Department, with the help of Lane County Sheriff’s Office Weighmasters and Oregon Department of Transportation, will be conducting truck inspections throughout the day on Monday, September 8, in the Coburg Road area, within a five-mile radius of Fox Meadow. This is the final operation of four scheduled operations this year.

The operation is part of an effort to reduce the number of traffic crashes and make the road safer by enforcing the laws, ordinances, and safety regulations pertaining to weights and measures along with truck safety requirements. http://www.oregonlaws.org/ors/810.530

STATS FOR LAST ENFORCEMENT - August 8, 2014 – Beltline and W. 11th
Five inspectors worked from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.. They inspected 21 trucks, placed six trucks out of service, wrote four citations, and discovered 36 violations. Citations were for Failure to Pay Registration, False Log, No Insurance, and Illegal Window Tint. Out-of-service violations were securement, flat tires, and no safety break-away protection (electric brake lock for trailers).

Lt. Doug Mozan will be available on-site to provide media interviews from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. September 8 at 3550 Fox Meadow, First Baptist Church.
