The Eugene Celebration Parade steps off Saturday morning, bringing musical medleys, crazy costume and social satire to the streets of Eugene. The traditional Pet Parade is also scheduled Saturday morning.
More than 70 groups are entered in the Celebration Parade. They will vie for honors including best decorated entry, best use of costuming. most cohesive marching or dancing group, the funniest entry(according to the judges), best use of live sound, best youth entry (judged by kid judges), best elementary/middle school entry, best high school band, best of show winner, and judges’ choice.
The parade starts at 11 a.m. at 19th Avenue and High Street and goes north on High, west one block on 11th, and back to 19th Avenue on Pearl Street. Motorists should use alternate routes to avoid parade-related delays.
The Pet Parade is sponsored by Greenhill Humane Society. The Pet Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. near High Street and 12th Avenue and wends its way around the block from High to 11th to Pearl and back to 12th.
At 5:30 p.m. the Eugene Celebration Tribute Concert begins at the Cuthbert Amphitheater, featuring Hell's Belles, Zepparella, and Foreverland. The Parade Award Ceremony will begin at 6:30 pm, between sets. Admission to the concert is $5.
