[ARCHIVED] Charges in Armored Truck Hold-up

Update: Armored Truck Attempted Robbery – Shooting

The 28-year-old suspect, Anthony Sam White, from Salem, was arraigned today at the hospital on a charge of Robbery in the Third Degree.

At 3:31 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, a 28-year-old male attempted to rob a Garda armored truck at Albertson's, 55 Division Avenue using pepper spray. One of the truck’s guards, a 23-year-old male, fired rounds at the suspect, then he and the 26-year-old male Garda driver left the scene in a vehicle, travelled a short distance to a more secure area and called 9-1-1.

Police responded and found the male suspect with gunshot wounds and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The involved guard and the driver were not physically injured in the incident.

Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit and Forensic Evidence Unit are continuing to investigate. ###
