[ARCHIVED] Man Arrested for Forgery After Mall Purchases

Yesterday, shortly after noon, two Valley River Center mall businesses called to report a man who had passed a counterfeit bill at each of their establishments.

According to the businesses, Ryan Alexander Mitchell, age 27 of Vida, presented a forged bill to purchase an item, got change and left. He went into another business and purchased another item, again getting change. He left the mall and began to get on a bus, but was spotted and detained by an Eugene Police officer.

Mitchell was charged with two counts of Forgery in the First Degree, and 12 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the First Degree, and lodged at the Lane County Jail.
