Language, Literacy, & Early Brain Development

Saturday, January 19, 2013

A workshop for childcare providers and other adults who work with young children, led by Joann Contini.

Early literacy, or “reading readiness,” brings great benefits to individual children, families, communities, and to society as a whole. This free workshop is designed for childcare providers and other adults who work with young children. No pre-registration is needed.

Workshop leader Joann Contini will explain “brain facts and functions” and share new research discoveries about the relationships among language development, early literacy skills, and early brain development. She will provide tips for putting this knowledge to practical use, including ways to share the information with co-workers and parents.

Ms. Contini is a Master Trainer in the Oregon Registry Training Program, holds a Masters Degree in Human Development, and has over 30 years experience in early childhood education. She has worked in preschool classrooms, trained other professionals, and administered statewide programs including Reading for Healthy Families.

(To receive a certificate of attendance, please contact Lynn Reiling at Family Connections of Lane and Douglas County in advance: 541-463-3307.)
