Our final week of council meetings before the long summer break addressed several high profile concerns.

On Monday, council passed a resolution to refer to the voters another five-year bond to repair city streets. As with the current road bond, this continued investment specifies the roads to be repaired and incorporates an external audit to account for the use of the bond funds. This will appear on the November 7th, 2017 ballot.

On Wednesday, council was briefed on the recruitment plans to replace Police Chief Kerns. The public can expect robust opportunities to share their priorities. Information is on the city’s website and people may send email thoughts or inquiries to

Council also heard a presentation about the Parks and Recreation master plan. This plan delineates a range of options to maintain and improve this important community asset. Council agreed to move forward with a community survey to gauge support for a potential funding request to the voters.
