A summer of free movies in the park

Posted on July 26, 2016 at 4:54 PM by Anastasia Ehlers

This year, Eugene Rec is showing a range of movies enjoyable for all ages, from To Kill a Mockingbird to E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Mark your calendar with your favorite films.

Our movie night on August 12 will be a larger event. We're calling it The Man Who Fell to Earth: A David Bowie Tribute Night. The event will feature a community barbecue from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., family games, a bounce house and a David Bowie fashion show. After the barbecue, we'll show some David Bowie concert videos before screening the movie Labyrinth.

Some Things to Note:

  • Bring a chair, picnic blanket or anything you might need to be comfortable, but be mindful not to block the view of the people sitting behind you.
  • You may bring food and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • You may not bring alcohol.
  • Well-behaved dogs are welcome on their leashes.
  • Arrive early! These events are popular, so make sure to get the seat you want. Besides, arriving early allows more time to enjoy a nice picnic with family and friends.
  • If it rains, we unfortunately have to cancel the event because our equipment can't get wet. The best place to get these updates is on social media--there's a Facebook event for each movie that will have the most current information about weather cancellations.
