The City worked with ETC Institute (ETC), a survey research firm, to gather statistically valid and representative input from City of Eugene residents on a wide variety of issues and topics.
Survey Goals
The survey was conducted to help City leadership determine how best to support the community and the organization’s goals and to help with future budget decision making.
Survey Design
In August 2022, ETC mailed surveys to a random, representative sample of households in Eugene, resulting in a statistically valid set of survey responses and a demographic make-up which aligns with the community’s demographics. In addition to the mail-in option, people were also given the option to take the ETC survey online. In total, ETC received 958 completed survey responses.
Additional Survey
In addition to ETC’s statistically valid sample, the City administered a similar survey, in both English and Spanish, through the Engage Eugene web platform, which received 815 combined responses.
City Council Work Session
Data from the online public opinion surveys as well as the ETC findings was presented at a City Council Work Session on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
