Get Involved

Neighborhood associations are volunteer organizations that thrive and grow when everyone is involved. Here are just a few of the ways you can get involved in your neighborhood:

• Attend a neighborhood association event or meeting, read the newsletter or check out the neighborhood association’s website
• Contribute to your neighborhood association newsletter or website
• Improve neighborhood safety by organizing a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) or neighborhood watch group
• Play an active role in responding to and preventing acts of hate or bias in the neighborhood (see Hate & Bias Prevention & Response Toolkit)
• Organize your neighbors and apply for a matching grant
• Join the board of your neighborhood association or serve on a committee
• Volunteer at a neighborhood event such as a picnic, potluck or neighborhood clean-up
