About the Park

Hendricks Park is Eugene’s oldest city park. Its 80 acres includes a world-renowned rhododendron garden, a native plant garden and a Douglas fir forest - all in the heart of Eugene’s university district. The park is a haven for hikers, gardeners, birders, and others who enjoy retreating to the tranquility of nature without leaving the city. The active Friends of Hendricks Park provide stewardship for the park through education, restoration and community support. Visit their website to learn more about park history and how to get involved or see the opportunities below.

Something for everyone

Volunteers support every aspect of Hendricks Park from the Rhododendron Garden to the Native Plant Garden to the Forest. If you love this park as much as we do or are just looking for a place to dig in (literally), we’ve got a way to turn your skills into valuable support for this treasured park.

Go deep

Not afraid of commitment? Maybe a bed or trail adoption is for you. An adoption requires a personal commitment through the seasons but allow you to volunteer on your own schedule and work more independently. Some experience required, but we’re willing to train.

Need an internship for school? Thinking about switching careers and want to get training on the ground? We offer internships year-round.

Still looking for other ways to get involved? Interested in community science or leading a tour? Want to bring your school or faith group, co-workers or friends for a day of volunteerism?  Have ideas of your own? Let us know!
